Country of Origin - Mexico

Mexican Fibre or Tampico (Agave lophantha)

Mexican fibre, also known as Tampico, is derived from the cactus-like lecheguilla plant, which thrives in the semi-desert uplands of Mexico. The fibre is extracted by scraping the pulpy matter from freshly cut leaves, resulting in a material known for its elasticity, resistance to temperature variations, acids, and caustic soda, as well as its fine polishing and grinding properties. Tampico is highly absorbent and non-electrostatic, ensuring that brushes made from it stay dust-free. The name "Tampico" is derived from the Mexican port from which the fiber is exported.

Tampico is harvested from the wild plants, and is completely bio-degradable. The fibre is available in a natural cream colour, but is also supplied polished and also dyed black and as a grey mixture. This combination of remarkable properties make Tampico a premium choice for high-quality brushes.
