Coco fiber, obtained from the husk of coconut palms in Sri Lanka, is a common seed fiber used in brush making. The husks are processed by soaking, retting, and crushing to extract this versatile fiber, while the inner part of the coconut is used for food products.
The coconut palm is a remarkably productive plant. Its leaves are used for roofing, stems are bound for local brooms, and the husk yields brush fiber, mattress fiber, and coir rope. Additionally, the dust from the husk is turned into compost blocks, and the coconut milk is extracted. In brush making, Coco fiber is typically found in more budget-friendly household and industrial brooms. It's often mixed with other fibers like PVC, Polypropylene, Gumati, and Palmyra (Bassine) to enhance resilience and reduce material costs.

Flagged Black fiber is a specially treated dyed Coco fiber with split ends, offering improved sweeping performance, enhanced appearance, and a softer texture.
